Seasonal Mosquito Control 

Mosquitoes can breed in small amounts of water that most homeowners don't expect, including water trapped in tarps, the folds of outdoor furniture covers, clogged gutters, and the saucers beneath container plants. In Georgia's humid climate, water also accumulates in dense groundcover such as English ivy and liriope, which provide moisture and shade that support resting mosquito populations independently of standing water. The Asian tiger mosquito, one of the most aggressive backyard species in Metro Atlanta, is a container breeder that reproduces in very small water volumes and travels only 100 to 150 feet from its breeding site, meaning untreated containers on neighboring properties can continuously repopulate your yard. Regular perimeter treatment, combined with eliminating small, hidden water sources, produces the best results.

West Nile Virus is the most consistently documented mosquito-borne illness in Georgia, with human cases reported in the state every year since its arrival in the early 2000s. The Asian tiger mosquito, one of the most common backyard mosquitoes in Metro Atlanta, is also a known vector for dengue fever and chikungunya, both of which have been reported in travelers returning to Georgia. Eastern Equine Encephalitis has been confirmed in Georgia wildlife and horses, and La Crosse encephalitis is a regionally relevant virus affecting children, transmitted by the eastern treehole mosquito, common in wooded suburban areas. The risk is not eliminated by a single treatment, which is why consistent monthly suppression through Georgia's March through October active season matters most.

A single treatment can provide two to four weeks of reduced mosquito activity by eliminating adults resting in the treated landscape at the time of application, but it does not maintain protection as mosquitoes reinfest from surrounding untreated areas and new adults emerge from nearby breeding sources. Georgia's peak mosquito pressure runs from June through August, with active populations from March through October, so a one-time application leaves most of the season unprotected. A monthly recurring program maintains consistent suppression throughout the full active season.

Perimeter misting targets the resting behavior of adult mosquitoes, which is where most population impact happens. Mosquitoes spend the majority of their time resting in cool, shaded areas such as the undersides of shrub leaves, groundcover, pine beds, and mulch borders, and misting these zones eliminates present adults while leaving a residual that affects mosquitoes landing in treated areas in the following days. It does not function like a repellent barrier that deflects flying mosquitoes mid-air, so some activity may still occur during peak dusk hours on treatment day. The most effective use of a monthly program is consistent coverage that keeps resting populations suppressed throughout the season.
